A Modern Interpretation of the Classic Barlow Pattern.
The Wayland is TJB's interpretation of the Barlow design, the epitome of the American "folding knife." Created over three centuries ago in England, the Barlow quickly became Americans' preferred blade, regardless of class or creed. The Barlow's traditional pattern—long bolsters, teardrop-shaped handle, and sheepsfoot blade—make it an ideal EDC tool. A knife so useful that Presidents Washington and Lincoln never left home without theirs, and Mark Twain felt called to mention it in two of his iconic works. If ever a knife belonged to the people, it was the Barlow, and we are happy to release the Wayland as our interpretation.
Beautiful Pocket Knife!
Bought for my boyfriend for his birthday. He loved the craftsmanship and aesthetic! I know he’ll enjoy it for years to come!
The wood was quite plain
It would have been nice specially at this price to have a select piece of Rose Wood for such a well made knife.
I love the fit and feel of this classic knife! I own several finishes of the Pike and wanted a similar look and mechanism but with a larger footprint and the Wayland delivers. I also love the designated spot on the knife for my Ulu cord! James brand keeps making it harder to settle on my EDC—today it is the Duval, tomorrow maybe the Wayland…
Fantastic, Classy, Barlow Slip-joint knife
This is a terrific razor sharp Barlow style knife. Eons ahead of other Barlows knives from other manufacturers that I have compared. The 3” blade is a size I prefer for the office environment. The Wayland is class. Buy it.
Awesome knife. Bolsters are a bit smaller for a barlow. Excellent walk and talk. Came hair shaving sharp out of the box. The only complaint, if you can call it that, is that it's ever so slightly too big for a decent 5th pocket carry or for my hitch and timber card caddy, if it was about 1/4 inch shorter when closed this would be 100% perfect. Would also like to see this with green Micarta and brass bolsters.
