the Hell Gap
the Hell Gap
Sometimes everyday carry means more than what you can put in your pockets.
Introducing the Hell Gap; our first fixed blade knife. Named after the Hell Gap arrowhead found in Platte County, Wyoming, the Hell Gap is a rugged workhorse, like the land of its namesake. Built around an s35vn steel blade and canvas Micarta scales, it’s a cutting polymath; built to be capable of doing work ranging from digging roots in the backyard to dicing onions for your camp breakfast burrito.
Form meets function in an absolutely beautiful knife.
I've only just received my Hell Gap but I couldn't be more happy. At first I was surprised by the size (I'd expected it to be bigger) but once I'd grabbed it and held it in my hand I realized that I wouldn't want it any larger. It fits perfectly in your grip, solid and sure. It's well balanced and the extra thumb grip feature on the back of the blade helps it feel even more so. It's gorgeous and sharp as hell right out of the box. (Already cut myself haha.) Beautiful knife. Buy it.
Great look, feel and size. Can't wait to take it to the woods with me this fall.
The Hell Gap is smaller and lighter than I envisioned. It's more like a kitchen knife than a "mainstay bet my life on it" outdoor knife. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful piece of work and speaks to The James Brand's dedication to a quality product. The jimping is clean and crisp, but the blade is a little thin and the Micarta Scales don't have quite the heft I need with hands as big as mine. Overall a beautiful kinfe, I just didn't need another almost $300 kitchen knife. When I recommend this product it is as an accessory or kitchen kit knife, not a mainstay.
