With the Carter you get both brawn and beauty.
Featuring a slide-lock mechanism, a corrosion-resistant VG-10 stainless steel blade, fully-profiled G10 or Micarta scales and a deep-carry, reversible pocket clip, the Carter is the most advanced knife we've ever made. It's slim and lightweight, but fully capable in any environment. It's also fully ambidextrous, and the pocket clip can easily be removed and replaced with the included lanyard insert. The thumb disc design means that the Carter is easy to use with one hand, so it's at the ready in all situations. The Carter is going to immediately earn it's spot in your EDC rotation.
Carter and Folsom
Great customer service and nice personal touch with fast shipping. Not everyday you get a hand written note thanking you and an email from the guy who started it all asking for feedback to make the company better. I love both knives - from an everyday carry piece in the Carter to a knife I can really bang around and do anything with in the Folsom! Both knives are nice and sharp and work very well. They just need to have a better in stock position on some of the color combinations, especially one with Damascus blade options.
I purchased the Carter with Black G10 scales and Stainless VG-10 blade. This knife is beautiful in its simplicity and function and will be a great heirloom piece that I pass to my son. The blade was very sharp out of the box (another nice touch--wooden box with felt carrying pouch) and the G10 scales provide a perfect balance of weight and grip. The deep pocket clip makes this a great EDC knife. I really have only two complaints. 1) The lack of jimping/knurling on the thumb stub. Although the thumb stud is quite prominent, the round smooth finish of the disc, makes it a little difficult to get a good purchase when opening the blade one handed. Adding a bit of texture might easily fix that. 2) The second issue is more cosmetic, but when paying $140 for a knife, cosmetics count. If you replace the pocket clip with the included lanyard attachment, you are left with an unsightly hole on one side (see pictures) where a screw is missing. I would love to see a second screw included, even if only to act as a filler. After a few weeks in my pocket, the hole fills with lint and has to be cleaned out.
First time buyer
Overall the knife is fantastic. I originally bought it for myself but decided to give it to my son for a Christmas gift. I’m going to buy another one for myself.
Mechanics work like butter. Looks cool (not tactical). Sharp. Using the clip, it moves in and out of my pocket just fine.
I have a dozen-or so-pocket knives, this is the one I carry.
The Carter replaced my Benchmade Mini Grip
I couldn’t find my mini grip one day and as it turns out my wife claimed it was now hers. I had a Folsom but my son liked and I gave it to him. I saw the Carter and knew this was a worthy successor to both. It’s my new EDC and is the perfect size...looks good too. I will say the Mini Grip was a workhorse for me around the ranch. I hope the Carter holds up as well. D
