The Modern Pocket Knife
The Duval is our first front-flipper, combining the best features of two classic knife silhouettes into a sleek and functional new form. Traditional gentlemen's knives require two hands to open and close, and they don't generally lock. With its front-flipper opening style and it's frame-lock design, you get the best of both worlds: the ease of opening and security of a traditional frame-lock knife, combined with slimness, symmetry and beauty of a classic gentlemen's pocket knife.
I am not a "knife guy".
So, I have owned a few knives here and there over the years. Some of the less expensive, but better known names. Then a friend turned me onto TJB by showing off his Carter. I was intrigued so, I obviously went to the site and started browsing. My design lust landed me on the Duval page and I immediately looked at the price and left the page. I'd peaked back at it every few months when a knife was mentioned and I came close to adding it to my cart a couple times. Then a "big" birthday of mine recently came and went. I felt a little cheated because no one bought me anything special. Therefore I navigated back to TJB and ordered myself a Titanium and Damasteel Duval. I could not be anymore pleased with this work of art as a "Not a knife guy". There's not a flaw on it. no gaps, no looseness, no tool marks. The blade sits symmetrically in the frame when closed (I am OCD about symmetry). I am a little hesitant to EDC it because of the cost, but I am going to anyhow. I know a clip would ruin the aesthetic but I kind of wish it had one. That's the most minuscule con I could muster. I think this will put me on the path of knifeguyism as I have my eye on a few more models.
This is my second James Brand product. I also own the Carter. Im very happy with this knife and would recommend it to anyone.
Great knife !
This is my second duval purchase. Finely crafted knife.
Love the knife
Great design love the blade and the blade steel, wish the lanyard was higher quality and the lanyard hole wasn’t so sharp-beautiful knife
High quality build. Watch out for the blade when you open it.
This is a very nice pocket knife. It is clearly very well built and is all around beautiful. The only knock I have on it is that the swing action is suuuuper fast. The first time it was opened it almost sliced the person opening it as it swings open so quickly. I think that due to the way the action is designed, the amount of force needed to be applied in order to open the knife results in the blade rapidly opening.
This isn't really a flaw in the knife... it's a great knife. This is more of a characteristic that you should be aware of if you're considering this knife.
